All K-12 educators, in all subject areas, must take this exam to become state certified.
Test consists of 125 multiple choice items and one essay in a 3 hour 50 minute block.
The exam has four subtests in the following areas:
- Subtest 1: Essay: Choose one of two prompts/ 50 minutes
- Subtest 2: English Language Skills: 40 questions/40 minutes
- Subtest 3: Mathematics: 45 questions/100 minutes
- Subtest 4: Reading: 40 questions/40 minutes
Register to take the exam on the Florida Department of Education website. The entire test, or an individual subtest, may be retaken every 31 days until a passing score is achieved.
Note: To become state certified as a professional educator, candidates must also take the Professional Education Exam and a Subject Area Exam such as the Elementary Education K-6 Exam.
